I’ve photographed weddings at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua over the years, from two-person elopements to larger celebrations, and I know the grounds well. To me, this is one of Maui’s most breathtaking coastlines. I especially love the dramatic cliffs for portraits, along with the beautiful beach and gardens. This collection of Ritz-Carlton Kapalua wedding photographs shares the setting and the celebrations I’ve had the pleasure of capturing here.

LIGHT AND TIMING
Plan your sunset portraits
If sunset photographs are a priority, choose whether you would like them on the beach or the cliffs, then plan your timeline around that choice. These locations are far apart, so getting to the right spot takes a little thought. My personal favorite is sunset on the cliffs, with that dramatic coastline behind you.
PORTRAIT LOCATIONS
Favorite places for photographs
The garden off the lobby is a lovely place for a first look and family photographs, and I also love the trees in front of the lobby. For portraits of the two of you, the Beach house lawn, beach, and cliffs offer beautiful variety. Choose the places you’re most drawn to and allow time to enjoy them.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
Give yourself time to get around and to move between the different parts of your day. The rooms are lovely for getting-ready photographs, both the ocean and upper lawns are beautiful ceremony settings, and the ballrooms work well for private receptions. Ask your planner about arranging a golf cart and how your guests will reach the ceremony and reception spaces.
