With nearly 20 years of experience photographing weddings and families, Joanna has had the opportunity to work throughout Maui at many of the island’s most beautiful wedding venues, private estates, resorts, and outdoor beach locations. She has also photographed weddings, styled shoots, family sessions, and engagements throughout the Hawaiian Islands, including Maui, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi Island, and Lānaʻi—from intimate beach ceremonies to destination weddings at some of Hawaiʻi’s most sought-after venues.
Her photojournalist and editorial style allow her to create evocative wedding and family galleries in which a succession of spontaneous images tells the story of the people in front of her camera. Whether photographing the emotion of a wedding day or the natural connection between family members, Joanna works with a relaxed and unobtrusive approach that allows genuine moments and personalities to come through. (During her own outdoor wedding, she learned the importance of a sensitive photographer who can attune to the needs of the people she is photographing.) The elements of sea, sky, and land renew and inspire her; As a photographer, she is especially drawn to the dramatic forms found at the beaches of Wailea and Kapalua and in Iao Valley.
